'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Families of Missing Teens Await Answers After Ski Resort Inferno
The loved ones of young people lost after a devastating fire at a venue in a Switzerland's winter destination are confronting an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and requesting any details about their loved ones publicly.
The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Verified footage reveal the roof structure igniting as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.
Authorities have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the victims of the fire, which killed 40 people and wounded another over a hundred. A spokesperson noted on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with efforts continuing to name the final individuals.
In the interim, loved ones have been using online platforms to appeal for information about their loved ones who were in attendance that evening.
Appeals for the Unaccounted For
The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are still unconfirmed, according to an appeal from his family.
The resident of a town near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the medical facility, while his father did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.
"I'm living a nightmare, an ordeal. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.
She added that some of his companions had been discovered with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they went through a terrifying ordeal."
The Italian foreign ministry has indicated that six of its young people have not been located.
Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, who hailed from Italy but now residing in Dubai.
The national sporting body has said that he is deceased, without directly referencing the tragedy, paying tribute to a "talented young man who embodied passion and authentic values."
His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An representative has stated that a official announcement of his death is awaited.

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His mother told reporters that he had been on holiday but had gone out with friends and ended up at the venue.
"Someone with him told me they fled after the fire erupted and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he they were separated," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.
