It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was underway.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
