Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the star in the following the devastating accident.
